Charles W. Smithers, Jr., CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining USCM, Chuck Smithers was a co-founder for the Center for Practical Health Reform, Inc., a not-for-profit organization involved in a national health care reform effort. Mr. Smithers is a healthcare finance and operations specialist, with particular expertise in physician practice management, health plan operations and healthcare information systems. He helped Jacksonville Faculty Practice Association grow from 25 to 165 physicians, and he developed nine subsidiary corporations that contributed to the entity's overall financial success.  One of those ventures — for which Chuck served as lead developer — was Professional Billing Services, a physician practice management information system company which the Medical Group Management Association identified as one of the three best in its class.
“She (USCM nurse care manager) helped me a lot. I have a very bad sight, but I had to take my insulin injection. That was a problem because I took too little or too much, or took it with some air. Rosie (USCM nurse care manager) called for me and I started receiving ready to use syringes with insulin. I needed to visit an eye doctor, but did not know where to go. Rosie called for me to all hospitals and made an appointment with a good doctor.”
